Team of students, led by a representative of Nemetschek Bulgaria won the first place in the innovative competition Hack FMI

The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” organized a technological competition for its students, in order to generate innovative ideas for quality improvement of faculty’s work.

From 12th to 14th of April at FMI was held the first edition of HackFMI, sponsored by Nemetschek Bulgaria and several other software companies.

HackFMI contest is a three-days hackathon, starting on Friday evening and ending on Sunday night. Participants are divided into teams up to 5 members. After the concept presentation which is related to the topic of Hacjaton, teams decide who want to be their mentors.

All teams coded with a lot of desire, enthusiasm and little sleep, motivated by the common idea to improve the performance of the faculty.

Over 150 students took part in the competition and the most popular ideas were connected with the improvement of the University Information System – ISMS, and communication between teachers and students associated with the process of choosing dates and materials for exams.

Every race has winners and prizes, and this one has not been without them.

First place went to the team whose mentor was Atanas Gardev, Senior Java Developer at Nemetschek. Second Place won the team “FAIRY” and third place was for CLGInc.

The general manager at Nemetschek – George Brashnarov, gave a special award to the team which was named  “George” – tickets for  “We Will Rock You” show.
