New generation of IT talents

July 2, 2015

HackTUES is a proof that in Bulgaria there is a new generation of IT talents! This weekend, 85 students in 17 teams competed
in creating a project which will help the educational process in TUES. The idea is helping students to acquire practical insight
for developing software in a cool and friendly atmosphere. The task was to create a software for educational process improvement.

The winners of the competition were the students from GO6O team, who were awarded with a summer student internship at Nemetschek Bulgaria.
They will have the opportunity to feel like real programmers for 2 weeks. The team presented a project for automatic test form checking.
In other words – OMR (optical mark recognition) software using recognition algorithms with OpenCV. The project allows capturing marked data from
document forms. It will help teachers to be faster in checking students’ tests and to focus on other important stuff.
Our mentors supported the teams by giving them valuable directions, advices and guidance. Nemetschek Bulgaria had also a second prize – Raspberry Pi 2, which we gave to “Няма значение” team for 100% project implementation.
The organizers promised that HackTUES will become a tradition, so we are looking forward to the next TUES hakathon. 🙂
More information about it you can find at the event’s website.
